JUST IN: Ribadu hosts US congressional delegation on security mission to Nigeria

National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhi Ribadu on Sunday said he received a United States congressional delegation on a fact-finding mission to Nigeria following earlier engagements in Washington DC.

Ribadu said the delegation was led by Mario Díaz-Balart and included Norma Torres, Scott Franklin, Juan Ciscomani and Riley M. Moore.

He said Richard Mills, US ambassador to Nigeria, also attended the meeting.

“Discussions focused on counter-terrorism cooperation, regional stability and strengthening the Nigeria–US strategic security partnership,” Ribadu said.

He added that he was optimistic the engagement would deepen trust, collaboration and shared commitment to peace and security.

The United States government has shown increasing interests in Nigeria’s security situation in the last few weeks, especially after President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern”.
