What did Daniel Ole Sambu die of? Reports indicated that Sambu fell ill last month while attending the cultural celebrations graced by President William Ruto.
He was flown to hospital, and little was heard about him since then, until his death on Thursday.
In a message of condolence, the UDA leadership expressed deep sorrow, noting that Sambu was more than a colleague in leadership. He was hailed as a strong pillar of the party and a committed democrat who consistently upheld its ideals.
“His strategic insight, unwavering commitment to the growth of our party and relentless work in building our structures from the grassroots are invaluable,” the party’s statement reads. Sambu, a native of Kajiado South, was also recognised for playing a central role in strengthening UDA’s organisational networks in the grassroots, particularly during its rapid expansion ahead of the 2022 general election.

State House Comptroller Katoo Ole Metito mourned him, recalling the deceased’s impeccable service during the days he served as his personal assistant.
“Daniel was a steadfast friend, a dedicated public servant, and an intrinsic part of my political journey. He served with unmatched diligence and loyalty as my first Personal Assistant for five years after my election as MP, providing the crucial foundational support for my work. To His Wife, the children, and the entire family: May the Almighty grant you strength and peace to bear this irreplaceable loss. We mourn a great leader, but celebrate a life dedicated to serving the community and conservation. Rest in peace, Daniel,” Ole Metito mourned. UDA urged members and supporters to honour his memory by continuing to uphold the values he championed.
“We pray that God grants the family strength and fortitude to bear the loss and offer our sincere condolences. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” the message concluded. Besides politics, Sambu was a renowned wildlife conservationist and environmentalist who advocated for the sustainable co-existence of people and nature.
His death came just days after another member of the Kenya Kwanza coalition died.
How nominated MP died Nominated MP Denar Hamisi died on December 6 after being involved in a road accident.
National Assembly speaker Moses Wetang’ula confirmed the passing, noting that Hamisi’s vehicle lost control shortly after he left his home, veered into a ditch, and struck a tree.
Eyewitnesses reported that the MP was driving alone in his white SUV when the crash occurred. He was found unconscious and bleeding, his head trapped against the car door.
The deceased MP will be laid to rest at his native home in Kwale County on Saturday, December 13.
Hamisi was nominated to the 13th parliament via the ANC party, which folded to merge with UDA.
