Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has signed the N642.9 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law following its passage by the State House of Assembly.
The governor assented to the budget on Tuesday at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, after receiving the appropriation bill from the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Usman Muhammad-Zuru.
Idris commended the speaker and members of the assembly for the timely passage of the budget, describing the legislature as responsive to its constitutional responsibilities and to the welfare of the people.
He said the executive and legislative arms would continue to work together to advance development in the state, noting that increased internally generated revenue, IGR, remained critical due to the limitations of federal allocations.
The governor explained that the budget represented projected revenue from both federal allocations and IGR, rather than funds immediately available.
Earlier, Muhammad-Zuru said the passage and signing of the budget marked an important milestone in the state’s democratic process, noting that it followed extensive consultations and scrutiny by lawmakers.
He disclosed that the 2026 budget provides for N163.57 billion in recurrent expenditure, representing 25 per cent, and N479.36 billion for capital projects, accounting for 75 per cent of the total outlay.
The speaker reaffirmed the assembly’s commitment to continued collaboration with the executive to drive development across the state.
