NOVA Bank Launches New Regional Office To Boost South-East, South-South Economy

NOVA Bank has opened a new regional office for the South-East and South-South, marking a strategic step in its expansion drive and reinforcing its ambition to become the preferred financial institution in Africa, delivering cutting-edge and superior financial services and products.

The commissioning ceremony, held in Imo State, attracted top government officials and business leaders.

Governor Hope Uzodimma, who officiated at the event, pledged the provision of land to support the development of the bank’s South-East/South-South Regional Headquarters, underscoring the state government’s commitment to partnering with private sector institutions to drive economic growth and financial inclusion.

The event was attended by key stakeholders, including Chief (Barr.) Chukwuma Uchenna Ekomaru, SAN, and his wife, Lady Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru; the Deputy Governor of Imo State; NOVA Bank Chairman, Phillips Oduoza; and Esther Adino, Group Head, Commercial Banking Group.

The regional office launch is the latest in a series of significant milestones that underscore the bank’s steady progress and alignment with the chairman’s long-term vision.

NOVA Bank commenced full national commercial banking operations in July 2024, building on five years of strong performance in the merchant banking space, where it distinguished itself through specialised services for high-net-worth individuals and corporate clients.

Its transition into retail banking was anchored on a Phygital Model that blends physical branches with digital platforms to deliver seamless banking services across locations.

This model was formally unveiled with the opening of a state-of-the-art office on Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, in July 2024.

The Lagos ceremony, conducted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, highlighted the bank’s innovative approach, its growing pool of skilled professionals and its contribution to employment generation as it scales nationwide.

Further strengthening its credentials, NOVA Bank attained the globally recognised ISO 27032 Cybersecurity Standard Certification in November 2024, reinforcing its commitment to robust digital security and international best practices.

With the establishment of its South-East/South-South regional office, the bank is positioning itself to support businesses, deepen financial inclusion and stimulate economic activities across the two regions, while consolidating its growing national footprint in Nigeria’s evolving banking landscape.
