Bandits killed five people, including a heavily pregnant woman, in Niger State’s Agwa community, Rafi Local Government Area.
The bandits who attacked the community on Tuesday afternoon entered and began shooting sporadically, killing their victims.
According to Mallam Audu, an eyewitness who spoke with our correspondent, the terrorists were carrying out the attack when a military patrol team engaged them in a gun battle.

“The bandits just entered our village and started shooting, people started to run for their lives in the process, and about six people were killed.
As they were shooting, they also captured some people and had to rush out of the village as the soldiers showed up and involved them in a shooting. The soldiers’ shooting was too much for the bandits, and they had to flee into the forest,” Audu explained.
He also claimed that more than 50 people were kidnapped, and that many villagers were injured as they fled to safety.
“Many people, more than 50, were kidnapped and others were injured while fleeing away from the bandits” he said
When contacted, Niger State Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Emmanuel Umar, confirmed the incident but stated that the exact number of victims had yet to be determined.
