AFCON 2025: Osimhen closes in on Yekini’s goal record after goal against Tunisia

Victor Osimhen’s header as Nigeria beat Tunisia means he is now only five goals behind the record held by the late Rashidi Yekini.

Osimhen opened the scoring as the Super Eagles edged a 3-2 victory over Tunisia on Saturday.

Eric Chelle’s men are now through into the last 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, as it was their second consecutive win at the tournament.

Osimhen missed a few good chances in the first half, before heading home Ademola Lookman’s cross.

The goal is the 26-year-old’s 32nd for Nigeria.

It also puts the Galatasaray talisman nine clear of the legendary Segun Odegbami in third place.

Nigeria’s all-time top scorers:

Rashidi Yekini – 37 goals

Victor Osimhen – 32 goals

Segun Odegbami – 23 goals

Yakubu Aiyegbeni – 21 goals

Ikechukwu Uche – 19 goals
