A quiet morning at Nkroful Junction in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis turned tragic on December 27, 2025, after a Kia truck loaded with rubber crashed into three roadside shops, killing one person and leaving another injured.
The truck was travelling from Agona Nkwanta along the Kansaworado Highway toward Accra when the accident occurred near the Allied Filling Station.
According to initial accounts, another Kia truck ahead suddenly veered into the lane of the rubber-laden vehicle.
In a desperate attempt to avoid a head-on collision, the driver struck the other truck, lost control and veered off the road before ramming into the shops.
The impact caused panic among residents and traders in the area. Two people who were inside one of the shops were trapped under debris as onlookers rushed to help before emergency services arrived.
One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The Assemblyman for the area, Abraham Yalley, who arrived shortly after the incident, confirmed that the injured person was taken to Fijai Hospital for medical care.
“We rushed one person to the Fijai Hospital, while the other is dead,” he said.
Further details revealed that the deceased was a female first-year Senior High School student of Adiembra SHS.
She was reportedly working at the shop to support her education and was preparing porridge when the truck crashed into the structure.
The death has left residents shaken, with many describing the young girl as hardworking and hopeful about her future.
Police have conveyed the body to the mortuary and have begun investigations to establish the exact cause of the accident and determine responsibility.
