NSCDC Sets Up Probe Panel Over Death Of Volunteer In Kano

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has set up a committee of inquiry to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of one of its volunteers, Halifa Abdullahi, attached to the Fagge Divisional Office.

The Command said the committee was constituted by the State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, to conduct “discreet and impartial investigations” into the incident and ensure justice for the deceased and his family.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the NSCDC assured that no personnel found culpable would be protected.

“The Command is assuring the family, relatives, friends and the general public that justice will be served as no erring staff found culpable will be spared or shielded. Anybody found wanting will be made to face the full weight of the law,” the statement said.

It stressed that there would be “no sacred cow,” noting that all persons involved would be treated equally before the law, while confirming that the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) was “heavily involved” in the investigation.

The Commandant, according to the statement, also expressed deep condolences to the family of the deceased, praying for the repose of his soul.

The NSCDC further appealed to members of the public to remain calm and law-abiding, urging them to allow due process to take its course as investigations continued.
