‘Your Marriage May Not Always Remain The Same. Divorce And Polygyny Are Real’ -This Message From Famous Marriage Therapist Is A Must See For Married Women

A Nigerian marriage therapist, Shamseddin Giwa, has sent a wise message to married women

The happily married father of four, in a Facebook post on Monday, January 12, 2026, advised married women to buy properties in their names in case of divorce or polygyny.

While noting that women should be fully committed to nurturing their relationships, Mr Giwa however emphasizes the importance of making logical decisions due to the unpredictable nature of marriages.

According to him, a woman contributing to building a house with her husband isn’t going to stop him from cheating on her or getting another wife.

He wrote:

“Dear wife, Buy your properties in your name! The marriage you have today may not always remain the same. Divorce and polygyny are real and can happen.

Yes, stay positive and give your marriage your best but while at it, ensure that you make logical decisions that won’t make you a victim if things go south.

Also, if you are supporting your spouse over projects, do it for the love of your Creator. That you contributed to building a house with a man is not going to stop him getting another wife, cheating or even divorce if the marriage gets bad.

This will happen because the building you contributed to is not a glue that binds marriage. This does not apply the same to husbands so if he decides to add your name to a property, it’s his choice.

Love is beautiful but please apply sense. It’s not a competition but you are allowed to own properties too. Helping the marriage grow is amazing but it should not stop you growing too.”
