Source: Twitter Confidence in skills over grades In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, Daniel Mutuku, a career coach and founder of Careerpoint Solutions, argued that learners should build their confidence not on the grades they get but on what they are good at. He said:

First, if you are confident, you will get a good grade. But other students get their confidence from grades, and when they fail, they lose their confidence. You should draw your confidence from what you are good at, not just grades. What is important is for students to build their confidence in their strengths and skills, and they will lead successful careers. The career coach advised learners to focus on gaining practical skills, which he said are the key to many opportunities. He explained that employers currently value skills over qualifications. He said:

Instead of focusing on grades, I would prefer focusing on acquiring skills around what they are good at. Currently, in the job market, many employers value skills and practical experience over academic qualifications. Even though some organizations still emphasize academic degrees, industries have embraced technical skills and creativity. Professionals who have been able to achieve successful careers did so by leveraging their skills rather than focusing on their qualifications alone. If students develop expertise in vocational training and hands-on skills, many doors to career opportunities will open. Mutuku strongly urged learners to improve their skills regularly and to be good at what they do. He remarked:

Sign up for technical courses like mechanics, plumbing, masonry, and be good at what you do. Master the skills, and you will be successful. Success comes from continuous learning and improving your skills to deliver quality work. Which course is best with grade D+?
