The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has rejected claims that it entered into a secret political arrangement with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The party said there was no meeting, no negotiation, and no agreement with the governor over an automatic ticket for the next election cycle. It described the reports as false and misleading.
Speaking during a telephone conversation, the APC Secretary in the state, Alhaji Zakari Sarina, dismissed the story as a deliberate attempt to stir political tension.
He said the claims were being pushed by “enemies of Kano” who are uncomfortable with the current political atmosphere in the state.
Sarina made it clear that the APC has not discussed any form of special concession with Governor Yusuf. He stressed that the party does not operate with secret deals or backdoor promises, especially on sensitive matters like governorship tickets.
According to him, while the APC remains open and accommodating to politicians who may wish to align with the party in the future, no such move has been initiated by the Kano governor.
He added that any decision of that nature would follow due process and party guidelines.
The party secretary urged residents and party supporters to ignore rumours making the rounds. He said the APC would not allow speculation to distract it from its focus on political stability, governance, and development in Kano State.
He also assured party members that the APC is committed to a transparent and inclusive political process as preparations gradually begin toward 2027.
