Arsenal’s nine-point gap means nothing – Arteta

Arsenal’s nine-point gap means nothing – Arteta

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has insisted that his team’s nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League table means “nothing”.

The Gunners thrashed Sunderland 3-0 on Saturday, to pile on pressure Manchester City.

Viktor Gyokeres came off the bench to grab a brace, after Martin Zubimendi had opened the scoring in the first half.

But ahead of City’s trip to Liverpool on Sunday, Arteta has said he is not impressed with Arsenal’s biggest lead since the 2003/2004 title-winning campaign.

When asked what such a huge advantage meant at this stage of the campaign, Arteta replied: “Nothing.

“We still have to win so many games to achieve what we want, so let’s not focus on that, that’s something else, we’ve done our job now, we’ve had what we have to do, assess that, try to improve it and get ready for Brentford [on Thursday].”
