Edu told to stay away from Forest training ground as exit looms

Edu Gaspar, Nottingham Forest’s global head of football, has reportedly been asked to stay away from the club’s training ground amid growing uncertainty over his future at the club.

According to BBC Sport, the executive’s role at the City Ground is under significant internal scrutiny following the club’s disappointing season so far.

Nottingham Forest currently sit 17th in the Premier League and are level on points with West Ham United, remaining outside the relegation zone only on goal difference.

It is understood that Edu, 47, has not been present at Forest’s three most recent matches against Fenerbahçe, Brighton and Manchester City.

While the club has declined to comment, sources close to Forest insist that Edu continues to carry out his duties as normal.

Forest began the season under Nuno Espírito Santo, but the squad is now working under its fourth manager of the campaign, Vítor Pereira.

Nuno’s dismissal was largely attributed to a breakdown in relations with Edu, while Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche also departed after brief spells.

Pereira has been tasked with steering Forest to top-flight survival but has yet to record a Premier League victory since his appointment last month.

In terms of recruitment, Forest have spent close to £200 million on new players since the summer, a strategy in which Edu has played a central role, given his remit over football operations.

With the club struggling near the bottom of the table, internal concerns have reportedly emerged regarding Edu’s performance.
