LaLiga: Akor Adams scores but Sevilla settle for Rayo Vallecano draw

Akor Adams early goal was insufficient as Sevilla were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano in a La Liga clash at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on Sunday.

The Nigerian forward gave the hosts an early lead, but Rayo Vallecano responded in the second half to ensure both sides shared the points.

The result leaves the two teams level on 31 points in the La Liga standings, with Rayo Vallecano occupying 12th place ahead of Sevilla in 13th on goal difference.

Sevilla made a bright start and went ahead in the 13th minute through Adams.

The striker, who joined the club in January 2025, capitalised on a delivery from veteran defender Cesar Azpilicueta to score his 7th goal of the season for the club.

Adams’ finish gave the home side early control of the match and lifted the atmosphere inside the stadium.

Espino equalise for the visitors
Rayo Vallecano responded shortly after the break and restored parity in the 50th minute.

Uruguayan defender Alfonso Espino, known as “Pacha,” found the net to level the score and quieten the home supporters.

The goal shifted the tide in the visitors’ favour as they pushed for a second.

Points shared after late pressure
Both teams created opportunities in the closing stages as they searched for a winning goal.

However, neither side could convert their chances, and the contest ended in a draw.

The result means Sevilla and Rayo Vallecano remain level on points in the middle of the La Liga table.
