March 15, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu has directed the deployment of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to commence the nationwide distribution of rice to Nigerians as part of support for citizens observing the ongoing Ramadan and the Christian Lent.
The directive, announced on Sunday, forms part of the federal government’s broader effort to provide relief to families during the sacred fasting periods observed by millions of Nigerians across the country.
According to the President, the initiative reflects the values of compassion, charity, and solidarity that define both Ramadan and Lent. He noted that the programme aims to ensure that families across the federation receive practical support during a period traditionally marked by fasting, reflection, and acts of generosity.
Under the directive, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will deploy their nationwide grassroots network to coordinate the distribution of rice across states, local government areas, and ward structures.
The distribution is expected to reach communities across the country to assist households during the fasting season.
Tinubu also recalled that a similar intervention was implemented during the 2025 Christmas celebrations when rice was distributed nationwide to support Nigerians during the festive period.
He said the continuation of the programme demonstrates his administration’s commitment to standing with citizens during important religious and cultural moments while promoting unity and shared national values.
Commenting on the initiative, the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, who also serves as Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, said the programme underscores the President’s belief in strengthening national unity through acts of care and support for citizens.
Uzodimma noted that both Ramadan and Lent remind Nigerians of sacrifice, generosity, and the importance of caring for one another, adding that the network of ambassadors will ensure that the rice distribution reaches communities across the federation.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors initiative, launched by President Tinubu in February 2026, serves as a nationwide grassroots platform aimed at deepening citizen engagement, strengthening community support systems, and advancing the ideals of unity, compassion, and national progress under the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.
The programme is expected to be rolled out across all states in the coming weeks as the fasting seasons continue
