The Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has emerged winner of the presidential election in Bauchi state, defeating his opponent Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

With the result of the election, which was held in twenty local government areas of the state, Atiku scored a total of 426,607 while the while the All Progressives Congress (APC) came trailing behind with a total of 316,694 votes.

The candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso scored a total vote of 72,103 while Labour Party (LP) candidate Mr Peter Obi scored a total vote of 27,373.

The Collation Officer, Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed, the Vice Chancellor of Federal University, FUD, Dutse, Jigawa State commended stakeholders in the state for ensuring a peaceful election.

According to the Collation Officer, the total of votes casts was 853,516 while the total number of rejected votes was 29030, adding that the total number of accredited voters was 882,546 out of a total registered voters population of 2,749,268
