Firm donates medicine to Imo police command

From Stanley Uzoaru, Owerri

Patricklingo Pharmaceuticals, yesterday, donated essential medicines to the Imo State Police Command during a medical outreach at the command’s headquarters in Owerri, citing the health needs of frontline officers.

The initiative targeted police personnel, whose duties often limit access to personal healthcare. The company referenced a 2025 study in the Nigerian Health Journal, which found 49.7% of police personnel were hypertensive.

Chief Executive Officer of Patricklingo Pharmaceuticals, Patrick Onwuelingo, who made the presentation to the state Commissioner of Police, Garba Bosso, said the outreach recognises the physical and mental demands officers face daily.

“Healthcare should not be a luxury, especially for those who dedicate their lives to public safety,” Onwuelingo said. “This outreach is our way of showing appreciation and ensuring that those who protect us also receive the care they deserve.”

He added that the medicines were selected to address common health needs among officers and improve access to essential healthcare within the command.

Onwuelingo stated that the company is committed to impact beyond medicine distribution. “We believe that impact should go beyond the shelves and into real lives. This initiative marks the beginning of what we hope will be a sustained relationship with the Imo State Police Command and other institutions that serve the public,” he said.

The company reiterated plans to continue health initiatives across Nigerian communities, highlighting the role of private sector partnerships with public institutions in supporting frontline service providers.

CP Bosso, who said he received the donation on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), commended the gesture. He said officers’ health is critical to maintaining an effective police force and thanked the company for supporting personnel who work to secure the state.

He also acknowledged that it was the first time such medical outreach would be extended to the command as he promised that the medicine would be given free of charge to men of his command.
