Effurun killing: Apostle Suleman hails IGP Disu over officer’s dismissal

The president of the Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman has commended the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu over the dismissal of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nuhu Usman.

The IGP dismissed Usman, an officer attached to the Area Command Effurun Delta State, after he was captured in a viral video killing a 28-year-old suspect, Mene Ogidi in broad daylight.

Speaking during a Sunday service at his ministry, Suleman said the IGP’s action is that of a good leader.

“I saw a video this week of a police officer who extrajudicially opened fire on a young boy. It troubled me a lot. While I was trying to recover from that, I saw the inspector general of police dismiss the officer. That’s how to lead. He dismissed the officer and said he should be tried in court.

“That is a leader, that is how to lead. Because when people are not punished for bad behaviour, rascality becomes the norm. Order is the mother of progress,” Suleman said.

The firebrand cleric also explained the importance of a praying nation saying that, prayers can only work when a leader is good and has good intentions for the people.

“When I saw that I said, ‘ This is a leader; now while prayer is important, you can’t pray when there is a bad leader, it’s a waste.

“Now there’s a good person at the helm of affairs, you now pray, “Lord, keep this one”. There are no sacred cows, for a nation to be transformed, there will not be sacred cows.

“Nations like Europe and America, the reason there is order is because there are consequences for action,” he noted.
