Gunmen abduct 60-year old in Ibadan as police move to rescue victim

A 60-year-old man has been abducted by masked armed men in the Monatan Area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Ayanlade Olayinka, Deputy superintendent of Police and Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) who said, “I can confirm that there was a case of abduction reported on 2nd May 2026 at about 2047hrs from the Monatan area of Ibadan.”

Confirming the abduction, Ayanlade stated that” preliminary information reveals that the victim, a 60-year-old male and building materials trader, was accosted while returning home along the Jinarere axis of Alakia Road by four masked , who forcefully whisked him away in an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla vehicle.

Upon receipt of the report, he disclosed that the Ppolice operatives swiftly visited the scene and activated necessary operational measures aimed at rescuing the victim and apprehending the perpetrators.

“Efforts are ongoing, and the Command wishes to assure the public that all available resources are being deployed to secure the safe rescue of the victim and bring those responsible to justice”, he said in a statement on Sunday.
