South African singer Tyla delivered one of the most striking appearances at the 2026 Met Gala, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Making her third consecutive appearance at fashion’s biggest night, Tyla leaned fully into this year’s theme, “Costume Art,” and its dress code, “Fashion Is Art,” which encouraged guests to treat the body as a canvas. Her look, a bold, body-focused creation, stood out as one of the clearest interpretations of the night’s concept.

The 24-year-old songstress arrived in a custom Valentino ensemble designed by Alessandro Michele, embracing a shimmering, peacock-inspired aesthetic.

The outfit featured a plunging illusion bodice adorned with cascading crystals, beads and diamond chains, carefully arranged to create a near-naked effect while maintaining a sculptural elegance.

A satin peacock-blue skirt, complete with a dramatic thigh-high slit and feather-like detailing, added movement and depth to the look.

The overall effect was both revealing and artistic, with light-catching embellishments that highlighted her silhouette and reinforced the “body as art” theme.

Tyla completed the look with a glowing “mermaid glam” beauty style, glossy, wet-look curls and radiant skin dusted with shimmer and micro-crystal accents, further enhancing the aquatic inspiration behind the outfit.

Speaking on the red carpet, she described the look as “a shiny peacock,” noting that the design was intended to celebrate movement, light and the human form.

She also made a joint appearance with Teyana Taylor, creating one of the evening’s standout photo moments.

Her 2026 appearance builds on a strong Met Gala track record, following her 2024 debut in a sculpted Balmain “sand” gown and a tailored Jacquemus look in 2025.
