FCT politician withdraws from House of Reps contest, endorses Wike-backed candidate

A famous FCT politician, Bitrus Lawrence Garki has withdrawn from the race for the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Garki said the decision followed consultations and reflection on the need to prioritise the unity and stability of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The APC chieftain said his withdrawal was in the interest of party cohesion and collective purpose.

His words: “As a young Nigerian who entered this race driven purely by the desire to serve, I have come to understand that true leadership is not always about the position you hold, but the sacrifices you make for the greater good.

“At this critical moment in our nation’s political journey, party cohesion and collective purpose must take precedence.”

Garki declared support for FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and his preferred candidates, adding that he has aligned with Wike’s political direction in the territory.

“In that spirit, I, alongside my teeming supporters, hereby fully align ourselves with the leadership and political direction of the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike.

“We declare our total and unequivocal support for Senator Philip Aduda and all other candidates endorsed and supported by the FCT Minister,” he said.

Garki also reaffirmed support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“I further reaffirm my unwavering dedication to the success and re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

The APC chieftain thanked his supporters, political associates, youth groups, women groups, and other stakeholders for backing his aspiration.

“This is not the end. It is a repositioning, a renewed commitment to service, loyalty, and the greater good of our people,” he said.
