The director-general of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs Zubaida Umar, has been nominated for the Blueprint Newspapers 2025 Responsive Humanitarian Leadership Award.
It is in recognition of her outstanding leadership in coordinating timely, structured and impactful humanitarian responses across Nigeria, particularly in moments of crises and vulnerability.
The chairman, Editorial Board of Blueprint Newspapers, Mrs Zainab Suleiman-Okino, presented the nomination letter to the DG yesterday, at NEMA Headquarters in Abuja.
Suleiman-Okino said the nomination followed a thorough evaluation by the newspaper’s awards selection committee, which found Zubaida Umar eminently qualified for the prestigious recognition.
She invited the NEMA boss to the forthcoming award presentation event scheduled to hold soon.
In her response, Zubaida Umar, expressed appreciation to Blueprint Newspapers for the recognition and confidence reposed in her leadership.
She dedicated the nomination to the management and staff of NEMA as well as the agency’s partners and stakeholders for their continued support and commitment towards effective disaster management and humanitarian service delivery in Nigeria.
