He Must Complete Another Four Years – Enugu East APC Endorses Tinubu, Mbah For 2027

Members of the All Progressives Congress ( APC ) in Enugu East senatorial zone, on Saturday, June 6, declared support for the reelection of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah in the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was made during a solidarity rally tagged “Ofu Obi Rally for Tinubu and Mbah,” held at Okpara Square, Enugu.

Naija News reports that the Enugu East senatorial zone comprises Enugu East, Enugu North, Enugu South, Isi-Uzo, Nkanu East and Nkanu West Local Government Areas.

At the rally, party members and stakeholders also announced a donation of ₦300 million to support Mbah’s reelection bid.

The motion adopting Tinubu as the preferred presidential candidate for a second term was moved by the senator representing Enugu East senatorial district, Senator Kelvin Chukwu, and seconded by the member representing Nkanu East/Nkanu West Federal Constituency, Nnolim Nnaji.

Similarly, the motion endorsing Mbah for a second term was moved by the member representing Nkanu West State Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Iloabuchi Aniagu, and seconded by the member representing Nkanu East State Constituency, Anthony Mbah.

The motions were adopted by party members and supporters who attended the rally.

Speaking at the event, a former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, described Mbah as a visionary leader who had shown strong capacity for implementation.

Nnamani said Enugu needed a leader who could think clearly, plan boldly and execute development projects that would improve the lives of the people.

He said transformative leadership and investment in education remained important to the growth of any society, citing China as an example of how visionary governance could change the fortunes of a people.

The former Senate President commended Mbah’s smart green schools initiative, saying the programme showed the governor’s commitment to preparing Enugu children for the future.

He urged residents of the state to continue to support the governor’s development agenda.

According to him, Mbah had demonstrated the qualities of a leader with a clear vision and the ability to turn policies into practical results.

Also speaking, a former governor of old Anambra State, Jim Nwobodo, said Mbah deserved another term in office to consolidate the gains of his administration.

Nwobodo said the governor had performed creditably and should be allowed to continue his work beyond his first term.

“We have no other governorship candidate in Nkanuland and Enugu State other than Peter Mbah. He must complete another four years in office,” Nwobodo said.

The Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, also assured the governor of the support of members of the State Executive Council and political appointees.

Onyia said the rally represented only a fraction of the support Mbah enjoyed across the state.

He expressed confidence that Enugu would become one of the leading states in Nigeria under the governor’s leadership.

Speaking on behalf of members of the House of Representatives from the zone, Nnaji said the endorsement of Mbah was based on performance and good governance.

He said the people were not supporting the governor merely because of ethnic or local affiliation, but because of his achievements in office.

“We are here not because Peter Mbah is our brother. We are here to celebrate performance, good governance and transformational leadership,” Nnaji said.

He also urged eligible voters in the state to register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, political support must be backed by voter participation for it to translate into electoral victory.

Earlier, the chairman of the central planning committee, Chief Okey Ogbodo, called for unity among party members and stakeholders across the state.

Ogbodo urged supporters of Tinubu and Mbah to remain peaceful, focused and committed to the political project ahead of the next general elections.

He said the growing support for the President and the governor must be translated into votes in 2027.

According to him, Enugu State had benefited from Mbah’s strategic alignment with the Federal Government and his commitment to progressive leadership.

Responding, Mbah thanked the people of Enugu East senatorial zone for the endorsement, describing it as a vote of confidence in his administration.

The governor said his administration came into office with a clear vision to transform Enugu State and create opportunities for future generations.

He listed some of his administration’s achievements to include the establishment of smart green schools, reforms in the primary healthcare sector, development of modern transport infrastructure, procurement of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses and revitalisation of public facilities.

Mbah also announced that his administration would introduce free school feeding in public schools by September 2026.

He thanked the people for what he described as overwhelming support and urged them to sustain the momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.

The governor also advised voters to remain vigilant and make informed choices during the elections.

The rally featured cultural displays from the local government areas in the senatorial zone.
