By Abdullahi Abdulrahaman Chakwa A Federal High Court sitting in Gusau, Zamfara has adjourned proceedings on the suit by filed by All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for Zamfara North senatorial seat, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi challenging his exclusion from the party’s primary election.
The matter has been adjourned to June 25, 2026, for further hearing.
Shinkafi in a pre-election suit involving the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Senator Sahabi Ya’u Kaura. is asking the court to nullify the APC primary on grounds that he was wrongly excluded from participation.
The case came up for mention on Tuesday, but proceedings could not advance substantially as issues relating to the participation of INEC, the second defendant, remained outstanding.
The court subsequently fixed June 25, 2026, for further mention, to enable INEC participate in the proceedings.
Speaking after the court session, counsel to the plaintiff Barrister Bello Galadi explained that pre-election matters are generally treated with urgency under the law and are expected to be determined expeditiously.
He said such cases are not meant to be prolonged unnecessarily but should be resolved within the timelines prescribed by law.
Our correspondent reports that the suit is one of several pre-election cases currently before the court.
