The flags are to pay homage to the countries of his parents, Mounir Nasraoui and Sheila Ebana.
Who are Lamine Yamal’s parents? Yamal was born in Esplugues de Llobregat, Catalonia, but his parents were not originally from Spain. His full name is Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana.
His father is from Larache, a city in northwestern Morocco, while his mother is from Bata, Equatorial Guinea. His mother was a waitress, while his father was a building painter. They separated when Yamal was three years old, but have remained present in his life and career. Yamal has a younger brother from his mother’s other relationship.
Yamal turned down the opportunity to represent either of the two African nations, stating that he ‘feels Spanish.’
“Lamine Yamal is a once-in-a-generation talent. We tried to bring him to the Moroccan national team, but it wasn’t possible. He told me, ‘Coach, I feel Spanish. I’ve played for Spain since I was a child,” said former Morocco head coach Walid Regragui via BeIN Sports. Lamine Yamal’s stats this season Yamal had another decent season for Barcelona, scoring 16 times and getting 11 assists as Barcelona successfully defended their La Liga title.
It was, however, another disappointing campaign in the Champions League as they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Atletico Madrid.

Why Lamine Yamal doesn’t wear number 10 for Spain In a separate story, Lamine Yamal doesn’t wear number 10 for Spain despite being the star of the team.
The number 10 is for his Barcelona teammate Dani Olmo, while Yamal wears number 19 due to the seniority structure in the Spanish squad.
Gavi bizarrely wears number 9, the same number he wore when he made his debut in 2021.
