The Undependent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Biodun Oyebanji winner of the June 20, governorship election in Ekiti State.
According to the electoral umpire, Oyebanji, candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 319, 224 votes to defeat his closest rival, Wole Oluyede of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 40,543 votes
The candidate of the African Democratic Party, Dare Bejide scored 12, 872 votes to secure third position while the Accord’s candidate, Opeyemi Falegan came distant fourth with 564 votes.
Announcing the results of the election Sunday morning, State Returning Officer, and Vice Chancellor, University of federal University of Technology, Akure, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, said Oyebanji was returned Governor after securing the highest number of votes cast in the exercise.
He said: “I Prof Adenike Oladiji hereby certify that I’m the Returning Officer for the Ekiti state governorship election held on June 20, 2026.
“That Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law has scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
