LAGOS – Prince Adeniyi Jafojo, the son of the first Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Chief Rafiu Bakare Jafojo, has implored the people of Agege Constituency 01 to vote for to represent them at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Speaking in an interview with Daily Independent, the 54-year old graduate of Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia in international relations, said he wants to provide effective leadership to the people of Agege on the platform of the Labour Party (LP), adding that he wants to see progressive leadership in the state, most especially in Agege LGA where he wants to see urban development that meets the 21st century standard practice as it is in other parts of the world.
Prince Adeniyi Jafojo, a member of the Afenifere and the state coordinator of the Afenifere Independent Group, which was established by his late father, stated that he is happy to be running on the platform of the Labour Party.
He praised some of the party’s leaders in Lagos such as Moshood Salvador, the founder of the Conscience Forum and other party stakeholders in the Labour Party in the state for keying into the vision of a New Nigeria where the country will move from a consumption economy to one that is productive as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has pledged.
Prince Adeniyi Jafojo promised that if he is elected, he will create more social and youth programmes by way of sports for the people of Agege with a focus on indoor sports, adding that research has shown that Agege is full of young adults with talent in different sports.
“The Labour Party’s emergence is coming at a time that Nigerians need a drastic change in our government. And for me, the Labour Party is more than a political party; it is a movement. The activities of the Labour Party are very encouraging and people tend to follow us because they want a change for the better.
“I intend to focus more on women programmes, youth/sport programmes, Small, Medium Scale businesses, education and others for my constituency.
“The state affairs of Lagos State has moved from people-oriented government to a more selfish form of government. I have always had the ambition to serve the good people of Agege and that is what I intend to do by creating more political structures and getting involved more with the people. With my family name/political background, we want to give back to the people so that they can enjoy the dividends of democracy,” Prince Adeniyi Jafojo stated.
He added, “Many of the programmes we intend to implement will help the people of the constituency move up economically and socially.”
