United States Mission Congratulates Nigerian Professor For Receiving 0,000 Prize

The United States Mission in Nigeria has congratulated first Nigerian-born professor of History, Professor Saheed Aderinto of the Florida International University, who recently won the $300,000 Dan David Prize—the largest history prize in the world.

United States Mission in Nigeria congratulated Aderinto in a tweet on its official handle.

The tweet reads, “Kudos to 🇺🇸-🇳🇬 Professor of History and African and African Diaspora Studies at @FIU, Saheed Aderinto, the first Nigerian to receive the $300,000 Dan David Prize—the largest financial reward for excellence in the historical discipline in the world.”

Professor Aderinto on February 28th was announced as one of the winners of the 2023 Dan David Prize.

The prize is a major international award that recognises and supports outstanding contributions to the study of history and other disciplines that shed light on the human past.

It is considered to be the “largest history prize in the world.”

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele on Monday, bowed to pressure and officially ordered commercial banks to comply with the Supreme Court judgement on old naira notes.

This comes some ten days after the apex court declared that old N500 and N1,000 notes remain legal tender until December 31, 2023.
