Joe Igbokwe violates Electoral Act, openly displays ballot paper [PHOTOS]

In violation of the Electoral Act, Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who is the Special Adviser for Drainage and Water Resources to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu after casting his vote at his polling unit in Lagos Sate displayed his ballot in public.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that President Muhammadu Buhari in February last year signed the 2022 Electoral Act amendment Bill into Law.

However, Igbokwe violated the law by displaying his ballot after he cast his vote.

Checks by this newspaper show that Section 129 (1) provides that “Exhibiting Party or election related symbols within the vicinity of a polling unit or collation Centre on the day of election is an electoral offense that attracts a fine of N100,000 or imprisonment for 6 months.”

Last month during the presidential election, President Buhari also broke the law when he displayed his ballot in public after casting his vote at his polling unit in Daura, Katsina State.
