FG approves N5.16bn for construction of accomodation facilities for NDLEA officials

The federal government, on Wednesday, March 22, approved the sum of N5.16 billion for the construction of two accommodation facilities comprising of 192 flats of various room capacities for personnel of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The facility, which will be located in Abuja, would take the two contractors hired for the project 60 weeks to complete.

The attorney-general of the federation and minister of justice, Abubakar Malami, made this known after this week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, March 22.

Malami premised the federal government’s approval on the security and safety of NDLEA’s narcotics superintendents and asistants whom, he said, have come under attack due to their increased anti-drug campaigns.

It is worth noting that the approval comes six months after the FEC approved N580.50 million for the purchase of four armoured vehicles for the agency last September.

At the time, NDLEA had just recovered cocaine worth N194 billion from a warehouse in Ikorodu, Lagos state.
