The final results from Abia State for last Saturday’s governorship and state assembly elections have emerged.Naija News gathered that the total number of registered voters in the state was 2,120,808 as stated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
On Wednesday evening, the Returning Officer of the election, Professor Nnenna Oti, declared the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Alex Otti, as the winner of the election.
She said Otti scored a total of 175,467 votes to beat his main challenger, Chief Okey Ahiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who won a total of 88,529 votes.
The final results showed that the LP candidate won in 10 local government areas while the PDP candidate won in six local government areas.
The candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Enyinnaya Chima Nwafor, won in Osisioma Local Government Area, where he hails from.
