In a petition sent to the DSS on Thursday, 23 March, Keyamo asked the agency to ‘rein’ in Obi and Baba-Ahmed. He said Obi and Baba-Ahmed have been making incendiary comments and claims about the declaration of Bola Tinubu as president-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He noted that the latest of such comments are those made by Baba-Ahmed on Channels TV on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, where the LP Vice President threatened that swearing in Tinubu on May 29th, 2023 would signal the end of democracy. “These comments and claims are made, not just within the boundaries of exercising their rights to freedom of speech and the freedom to air their grievances publicly, but they have since crossed the line to call for the outright truncation of democracy by insisting on the adoption of other processes outside the contemplation of our Constitution,” Keyamo said. “In some cases, their privies have even called for the establishment of an Interim Government.” The Minister of Labour said Baba-Ahmed unilaterally declared the president-elect as unconstitutional and threatened mayhem if Tinubu is sworn in on May 29th, 2023. He alleged that he has it on good authority that Obi and Baba-Ahmed sponsored some youths to populate social space with inciting messages that could lead to violence in the country. 1 day ago The president-elect campaign spokesman in the South East, Dr. Josef Onoh has told the President-elect to prioritize the release of Nnamdi Kanu than conceding the position of the President of the Senate to the South East zone.
