Nigerians will long for Buhari when he leaves office, says Garba Shehu

Barely two months to the completion of the second term of the current administration and the presidency is certain that, like Nigerians did for former president, Goodluck Jonathan, they will miss President Muhammadu Buhari when he leaves.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on media and publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu, bemoaned the severity of the criticisms leveled at the president. He claimed that leaders are not loved while in office.

Mr. Shehu was of the opinion that this same yearning will occur after Buhari has handed over to the next president, citing the case of Goodluck Jonathan, who he claims was persecuted out of office but has since become the favorite of many Nigerians.

Regarding the cashless policy, Mr. Shehu affirmed that it is currently in place because it is desirable and therefore cannot be changed. He asserted that going cashless is the best course of action for Nigeria because cashless countries and, all developed countries around the world have done so.

The president’s spokesman acknowledged the difficulties that came with the change, lamenting the fact that the only people who ought to have felt more suffering are those who are hurting the weaker members of society.
