BREAKING: INEC fixes date for Adamawa election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed April 15 for governorship, national and state assembly supplementary/re-run elections.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that INEC made this revelation via its official Twitter handle on Monday.

The announcement comes barely one week after the governorship election of Adamawa state was declared inconclusive.

In the Northeast state, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Aishatu Dahiru, popularly known as Binani, got 390,275 votes while the incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate garnered 421,524 votes.

However, INEC state collation officer, Professor Muhammadu Mele of the University of Maiduguri, declared the election inconclusive due to the margin of votes.

Furthermore, it is expected that the electoral body will also conduct the supplementary election in Kebbi State on Saturday, April 15.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Yusuf Sa’idu, had last week Monday, declared the results inconclusive owing to “massive vote cancellation and over-voting” in 20 of the 21 local councils in the state.
