Cape Town City are expected to give DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns a Guard of Honour on Tuesday.

Having won the league title for the last six consecutive occasions, the Brazilians have been the recipients of the honour in seasons gone by.
Rulani Mokwena’s side clinched the league title with seven games to go, a record in the league, as SuperSport United and Chippa United shared the spoils in a one-all draw at the weekend, mathematically ruling them out of the title race.
City, who have made the trip to Tshwane for Tuesday’s clash are the first side Sundowns face since securing the 2022/23 champions and are expected to carry out a Guard of Honour, although such an arrangement would have to be agreed to in the match meeting prior to the game.

If agreed, the match commissioner will include it in the running order of Tuesday’s proceedings at the Loftus Versveld Stadium.
Kaizer Chiefs gave Sundowns a Guard of Honour last season after the Brazilians clinched the DStv Premiership title with the likes of Royal AM and Stellenbosch FC following suit.
Swallows, Golden Arrows, Richards Bay, AmaZulu, Marumo Gallants and Maritzburg United are all expected to do the same as seen in recent history.
Mokwena’s Sundowns side can reach an impressive 80 points if they manage to pick up wins in their remaining seven games this season, while they are still in the running for the Nedbank Cup as well as the CAF Champions League.
