Borno civil servants get April salaries ahead Sallah

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has approved the payment of workers’ salaries for April ahead of the Sallah celebration in the state.

According to him, some of the over 16,000 workers have been getting bank alerts for their April salaries.

Spokesman to the Governor, Isa Gusau, disclosed, yesterday, in Maiduguri: “The early payment of workers’ salaries was to enable them to prepare for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration slated for the weekend.”

Zulum, he noted, has always argued that the payment of workers’ salaries does not account as an achievement of any administration.

He added: “Since the monthly salaries are debts owed workers for their services, the governor has never defaulted on the monthly payment of salaries and pensions.”

Disclosing that Zulum released over N20 billion to clear the backlog of gratuities and pension, he noted that the governor has regularly approved early payment between 15th and 17th day of every month to enable workers prepare for special occasions, including Sallah and Yuletide.

He, therefore, wished all Muslims a fulfilling, joyous and memorable Eid-el-Fitr celebration in the state.
