Abia Provides Friendly Environment For SMEs To Thrive–Obiukwu

The government of Abia State has said that it has provided a friendly and enabling environment for business, especially Micro, Medium and Small En route and@

Dr Salome Obiukwu, the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, said this at the just concluded Lagos International Trade Fair.

She said that small businesses are vital to the economic development of the state, adding that small businesses are thriving in the state because of the enabling environment that the state government provided for them.

According to her, the state has become home for SMEs in the country.

Obiukwu stated that Abia State is the most industrious state in the nation, adding that Aba remains the most famous city in SME engagement with different levels of production.

The Abia State Commissioner for Trade and Commerce stated that the state leads in leather production/shoe production, cloth making/textile, palm oil, palm cannel, adding that the state is also competing favorably in

cashew and cocoa production.

She urged investors and businessmen to visit Abia State for different business opportunities.

According to her, Governor Alex Otti is in the forefront of diversifying the economy of Abia State through many finished and ongoing projects spread across all the zones and local government areas of the state.

She listed road construction, health care, office remodeling, education sector, quipping and training of workers for effective work delivery as some of the areas that the state government has made positive impacts on.

The commissioner disclosed that there is steady power supply in the state, noting that Abia has finalized a plan to take over some percentage of power supply from EEDC to improve power supply to SMEs, companies and businesses.

She invited all to visit the forthcoming second Aba International Trade Fair scheduled to hold from 5th December 2025 to 14th December 2025 along Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway, Osisioma Abia State.
