ADC: Senator Nwoye Appoints Wife Of Slain Lawmaker, Legislative Aide

Fewer than 24 hours after she failed in her bid to succeed her husband, Senator representing Anambra North, Tony Nwoye, appointed African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Justina Azuka, as his legislative aide.

Azuka was appointed as Senior Special Adviser on Special Duties to the federal lawmaker.

Recall that Mrs Azuka had contested election for the Onitsha North 1 State Constituency, previously held by her husband, Justice Azuka, before he was kidnapped and eventually k!lled.

Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday announced the result of the by-election, declaring the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mimih Ifeoma Azikiwe winner, while Mrs Azuka came closely behind.

The idea of fielding her as candidate of the ADC was to empower her to train her three children left behind by her late husband. But with her loss in the election, Senator Tony Nwoye quickly appointed her as a legislative aide.

In a photo circulating online, Senator Nwoye was seen handing her an appointment letter.

When our correspondent reached out to the senator, he confirmed that he truly appointed her.

It was also gathered that her appointment came with a basic salary of N200,000, and this has been applauded by many who believe that the appointment will cushion the effect of the loss of the husband to her, and also cater for her family.

Mr Peter Mmeagana, an indigene of Anambra State who reacted to this praised Nwoye for being so empathic.
