Adeleke debunks ADC defection rumors, vows PDP loyalty for Osun 2026 victory

By OLA MODUPE, Osogbo –

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has categorically denied rumors of defecting to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the August 8, 2026 governorship election approaches.

In a statement released on August 1, 2025, in Osogbo by his spokesperson, Malam Rasheed Olawale, Adeleke reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Speculations about Governor Adeleke’s defection to ADC are completely baseless,” Olawale asserted, dispelling claims of any alignment with ADC figures.

He emphasized the governor’s dedication, stating, “Governor Adeleke remains firmly in the PDP, will contest the 2026 election under PDP, and is confident of a resounding victory without needing any ADC alliance.”

Olawale underscored Adeleke’s popularity, noting, “The people of Osun back the governor for his outstanding performance since assuming office, and they are determined to re-elect him to continue his transformative governance.”

He clarified that the PDP’s endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential race does not imply any partnership with ADC.

The media aide also revealed Adeleke’s directive to PDP members, saying, “The governor has urged party members to intensify efforts in strengthening PDP structures at all levels to secure a decisive win in 2026.”
