April 17, (THEWILL) – The presiding Bishop of the Christian Central Chapel International, Bishop Emmah Isong, has charged policy Makers in the United Nations and African Union to formulate policies that protect minority rights and religious freedom.
Bishop Isong made the call in his keynote address presented during the activities to mark the 2nd edition of the Africa Spiritual Day themed: “Abasiakara” (God Rules).
He maintained that where one’s right ends that of another person begins and also called for a solid legal framework that will protect the weak, and vulnerable.
“As we gather today, to pray for true unity and peace in our World, it is important to remind our policymakers whether in, the United Nations, African Union or any particular nation to ensure a solid legal framework that will protect the rights of the weak and vulnerable in the society, especially women and the girl child by abolishing obnoxious cultures and practices.
“A robust economic policies that will provide basic education and employment, especially to the teenage boys and girls so as to mitigate the tendencies for crime and rather promote creativity, productivity and profitability.
“A trusted political environment that will ensure the safety of lives and properties and enhance humanity,” he said.
Earlier, President, Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), Nigeria, Rev. Imo Essien Nkanta, said the purpose of the spiritual day celebration was for the unity of the continent, adding that unity is strength.
He maintained that the ceremony remains one of the formidable platforms for leaders of different religious faiths to come together to rob minds and brainstorm on issues bordering on world peace and Unity.
In addition, it affords them the platform to find a path towards peaceful co-existence with one another to make the African continent and the world at large a better place to live.
Others, who spoke in the course of the event include Imboni, Dr. uZwi-Lezwe Radebe, IAPD-Africa Chairman and founder of The Revelation Spiritual Home; El Hadj Habib Kane, Director of Religious Affairs, Mali; Father Louison Emerick Bissila Mbila, Chaplain at AU from Ethiopia and Venerable Dr Ilukpitiye Panasekara, Chief Monk Buddhist, Tanzania.
