Retired Police officers have again marched to the National Assembly complex to protest over a barrage of challenges they are currently facing since their retirement from active service.
The retired officers in their numbers on Thursday blocked all entrances and exits of the legislative complex.
They lamented over years of neglect, poor welfare conditions, injustice from the Nigeria Police and the government.
The aggrieved retired officers also vowed to deny entrance to lawmakers and staff of the National Assembly until they get an audience with the Senate President.
Speaking on the importance of the protest, one of the retired police officers accused the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio of refusing to address their challenges.
“Nobody will enter the National Assembly today. The ambulance is already on standby and we are resolute.
“The Senate President was here just a few seconds ago but refused to come out and address us,” the aggrieved retired officer said.
Vehemently stating that “enough is enough”, the protesters said they have done nothing to deserve the kind of treatment they received from the police and the Nigerian government.
“What are our crimes? What did we do to deserve this treatment? We will not accept it anymore. Nobody will enter the National Assembly today!”
“If they want to arrest me, let them come. I am ready to die here if I must. That is our decision,” another protesting ex-officer added.
