School Of Politics & Governance Graduates 262 Students
The School of Politics, Policy, and Governance (SPPG) has celebrated the graduation of 262 students from its Class of 2025. The event which took place at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre in Abuja on Saturday was themed “Embracing and Preparing Leaders of a New Global Order Where Africa Builds on Its Own Terms”.
The founder, Dr Oby Ezekwesili in her address, urged the graduates to redefine African leadership with integrity, competence, and a commitment to service.
The founder noted that only 262 of the initial 400 admitted students met SPPG’s standards of character and capacity. She challenged the graduates to address Africa’s pressing issues.
“You are leaders equipped to shape the future of Nigeria, Africa and beyond. The SPGS vision has always been clear – to raise a generation of ethical, competent and capable leaders who are defined not by the trappings of power but by their capacity to solve public problems with integrity,” she stated.
Ezekwesili also noted the widening inequality, deepening poverty, and eroding trust in governance.
“We discussed all of this during the Africa conference, where we were talking about democracy and how it has lost its legitimacy with citizens,” she added.
The former Minister of Education of Nigeria urged the graduates to forge a new social contract, addressing the tragedy of young Africans risking their lives at sea to escape systemic failures on the continent.
She called on the graduates to lead with courage and service, not entitlement.
“Leadership is a sacred trust to safeguard the dignity, aspirations, and well-being of the people.
“The core values and principles that we trained you on must now be your eternal compass, whether you serve now or in the future in public office, your obligation remains unchanged,” Dr Ezekwesili added.
