‘Akpabio Does Not Have The Character To Do The Right Thing’ – Adeyanju

Human rights lawyer cum activist, Deji Adeyanju, has stated that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio , does not have the character to act in the right direction.

Naija News reports that Adeyanju made this known during an interview on News Central while reacting to the tear gassing of protesters by the police at the National Assembly.

Adeyanju described the Akpabio-led National Assembly as political bandits, stressing that the current lawmakers do not have Nigerians’ interests at heart.

He said, “It’s very ironic that we had a group in support of the evil that the National Assembly is doing and they were not teargassed, the group, a pro-manual transmission of results were not teargassed, there was a pro-government protest at EFCC and they were not teargassed but the anti-government one was teargassed, the anti-manual transmission were teargassed at the National Assembly.

“Protest is a fundamental human rights, it’s not a crime, I don’t understand why there would be a result to the use of force as long as the people are not being violent, are not taking the procedure into their hands and there is a procedure under our laws that a protest can move to riot.

“The only reason why I’m not protesting now is that the likes of Akpabio of this world are in charge of the National Assembly. I can’t in all good conscience go to the street and be asking Akpabio to do the right thing when I know for a fact that he does not have the character of a person to do the right thing.

“This current National Assembly are political bandits, they do not have the interest of Nigerians at heart.”
