Following the official confirmation of his move to Chelsea, Alejandro Garnacho has officially shared his first words on his transfer.
Chelsea have completed the signing of Argentina international Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United on a long-term contract running until 2032.
The 21-year-old winger, who celebrated his birthday in July, arrives at Stamford Bridge with 93 Premier League appearances and 16 goals to his name. Among his strikes is the spectacular overhead kick against Everton last season, which earned him the 2024 FIFA Puskas Award.
Speaking after sealing the move, Garnacho said:
“It’s an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club. I can’t wait to get started. I watched the Club World Cup and to join the world champions is special – we’re the best team in the world! It’s amazing to be here and I’m very happy.”
Born in Madrid, Garnacho developed in the youth systems of Getafe and Atletico Madrid before joining Manchester United at 16 in October 2020. After impressing at the academy level, he made his senior debut in April 2022 against Chelsea, shortly before turning 18.
He broke into United’s first-team squad during the 2022/23 season, scoring five goals in 34 appearances across all competitions, including a dramatic last-minute winner away to Fulham – his first Premier League goal.
By 2023/24, Garnacho had firmly established himself as a regular starter. He recorded seven league goals in 36 appearances, most notably his iconic strike at Goodison Park and a brace in the 4-3 thriller against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. He also made his Champions League debut for the Red Devils, scoring in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Galatasaray.
