Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the Anambra South by-election, Honourable Chinedu Nsofor, held a special thanksgiving service at Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Owerri Central, on Sunday, July 27, to give glory to God for his miraculous escape from his abductors in Kogi State.
Nsofor recounted his terrifying experience, saying, “I was snatched from the road into the den of kidnappers on Thursday, July 10. They took me up a mountain where I was held hostage, tied with ropes and surrounded by threats and uncertainty.”
Nsofor attributed his release to the prayers of the Dunamis congregation, particularly the State Pastor and his wife, Dr Paul Enenche, who he said prayed fervently for his release.
He also credited the prophetic word given by the pastor during the “Commanding the Day” midnight prayer, which he believes triggered his release.
He shared his testimony, saying, “I didn’t walk out of that den by my strength or by strategy. It was God’s intervention.” He also revealed that a particular song, “You are always there to help,” became his strength during captivity.
Nsofor fulfilled his vow to give thanks to God for his release, saying, “Lord, if I leave this place without a ransom paid, I will return to Your house with praise on my lips and thanksgiving in my hands.” The congregation erupted in worship as Nsofor and his family gave thanks, marking the fulfilment of a heartfelt promise.
The service featured a sermon by Pastor Enenche on the topic “Avoiding the Plague of Prayerlessness,” emphasising the importance of prayer and spiritual sensitivity in times of trouble.
