Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in the state. The announcement was made by the electoral committee.
Three aspirants contested the primary: Governor Kefas, former Minister of Works Alhaji Sambo Jaji, and Chief David Sabo Kente.
The APC Governorship Primary Election Committee Chairman, Barr. Yakubu Haruna Argungu, announced the results late Friday at the Fast-Track Hotel in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
According to Argungu, Governor Kefas polled 166,357 votes. Engr. Muazu Sambo Jaji received 4,110 votes, while Chief David Sabo Kente got 900 votes in the election held on Thursday, 21 May 2026.
“Governor Kefas, having scored the highest votes, is hereby declared the winner of the primary election,” Argungu stated.
Accepting the result, Governor Kefas said the victory belonged to every member of the party across the state. He thanked the party leadership at all levels for their support and confidence, and appreciated the people of Taraba State for their continued trust and cooperation.
The governor also commended his fellow aspirants, noting that democracy gives room for all voices to be heard. He added that the contest was over and it was time for unity and collective action to drive the continued development of the state.
Kefas emphasized that his focus remains on building a stronger APC and a more prosperous Taraba State.
