Arewa Think Tank commends Tinubu’s lithium, solid minerals initiatives

The Northern group, Arewa Think Tank (ATT), has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for what it described as groundbreaking initiatives in the solid minerals sector, particularly the ongoing lithium revolution.

In a statement issued by the Convener of the group, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, ATT said the bold steps taken by the administration mark a decisive shift in Nigeria’s economic direction, ensuring that the country’s vast natural resources are harnessed for the benefit of its citizens.

“The establishment of Nigeria’s first lithium processing plant in Nasarawa State, along with several other factories across the country, demonstrates President Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to value addition and local beneficiation,” Yakubu said.

He added that the new policies would have a far-reaching impact on the nation’s economy. “This strategic approach will not only generate substantial revenue for the nation but also create thousands of jobs, stimulate economic growth, and empower local communities.”

The group also commended the decision to ban the export of unprocessed lithium, describing it as a bold step toward ending decades of resource exploitation and dependency.

“We applaud President Tinubu’s leadership in banning the export of unprocessed lithium, a decision that underscores his determination to break the cycle of economic dependency and exploitation,” the statement noted.

“By insisting on local processing and value addition, we are poised to reap the full benefits of our mineral wealth,” Yakubu added.
