August 19, (THEWILL) — Arsenal have finalised a significant contract adjustment for forward, Leandro Trossard, securing his immediate future following speculation of a summer departure. The agreement, confirmed by club sources, provides the Belgian international with a substantial wage increase. This revised arrangement does not, however, extend the duration of his existing deal, which is still set to conclude in 2027. The development effectively ends current rumours linking the player with a move away from the Emirates Stadium.
Trossard’s revised terms reflect his valued contribution since arriving from Brighton and Hove Albion in January 2023. Negotiations for improved remuneration had been underway for several months, coinciding with reported interest from clubs in major European leagues. The 30-year-old has become an integral, versatile component of Mikel Arteta’s squad, despite not always being a guaranteed starter. His ability to operate across the front line and in midfield offers critical tactical flexibility.

The competition for places remains intense, particularly on the left wing where Trossard directly contests the position with Gabriel Martinelli. The recent acquisition of Noni Madueke from Chelsea has further increased options in that area. Trossard’s capacity to perform competently with both feet makes him a unique asset, though debates persist regarding his consistency in claiming a permanent first-team role. Martinelli’s own future has also been subject to transfer conjecture this summer.
This contractual decision may signal a shift in Arsenal’s strategic planning for the remainder of the transfer window. Pursuits of high-profile attacking targets such as Rodrygo of Real Madrid and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze are now considered improbable. The club has already been notably active, completing deals for Martín Zubimendi, Viktor Gyökeres, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Nørgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga alongside Madueke.
Trossard has contributed 27 goals and 20 assists in 115 combined English Premier League and UEFA Champions League appearances for Arsenal. He has been absent from the pitch since sustaining a calf injury during a preseason friendly against Tottenham Hotspur. Although he was named on the bench for the season’s opening victory over Manchester United, the player was not introduced into the match.
