Austen-Peters to keynote NFVCB digital content conference

The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has announced that Bolanle Austen-Peters, the internationally recognised theatre and film producer, will deliver the keynote address at the 5th edition of the Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Nigerian Digital Content Regulatory Conference (PAO NDCRC). The conference is scheduled for November 18 and 19, 2025, at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

Named in honour of the late AMAA CEO Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the PAO NDCRC has become a key national platform for discussions on film, content regulation, and the digital future of Nollywood. This year’s edition will focus on the theme, “From Volume to Value: Future of Nollywood in the Digital Age,” examining strategies for enhancing content quality, deepening value creation, and ensuring sustainability in a digital-first environment.

Austen-Peters, popularly known as BAP, is expected to lead the conversation on transitioning Nigeria’s film industry from sheer volume of output to value-driven content creation. Her keynote, which aligns with the conference theme, will set the stage for panels and discussions involving industry leaders, policymakers, regulators, creatives, academics, and investors.

Described as the “Queen of Nigerian Theatre,” Austen-Peters is the founder of Terra Kulture and BAP Productions. She has produced landmark stage productions, including Saro the Musical and Fela & the Kalakuta Queens, as well as feature films such as The Bling Lagosians and Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti. Her works have toured internationally, gaining recognition for elevating African storytelling and promoting Nigeria’s cultural heritage.

Executive Director of the NFVCB, Dr. Shaibu Husseini, said Austen-Peters exemplifies the combination of artistic excellence, innovation, and business acumen necessary for Nollywood’s growth in the digital age. “Her remarkable contributions to theatre and film demonstrate the kind of value-driven storytelling that this year’s conference theme champions. We are confident her keynote will inspire bold thinking and set the right tone for the future of our industry,” Husseini stated.

The conference is expected to provide a forum for stakeholders to discuss regulatory frameworks, investment opportunities, and strategies for enhancing Nigeria’s digital content ecosystem.
