Bandits kill 13 in Katsina community

The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed that 13 people were killed during an attack by bandits in Doma community, Tafoki Ward, Faskari Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, said in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday night in Katsina that the Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, has condemned the attack and ordered the deployment of resources to investigate the incident and arrest the perpetrators.

According to the statement, “On 3 February 2026, at about 1400 hours, a distress call was received at the Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters that suspected armed bandits, armed with dangerous weapons and firing sporadically, had attacked Doma village, Faskari LGA, Katsina State.

“Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer promptly mobilised operatives, in collaboration with the military and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), who responded to the scene.

“Unfortunately, the assailants fatally shot 13 persons and fled the area before the arrival of the operatives.

“Normalcy has since been restored in the affected community, while investigations have commenced to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and arrest those responsible.

“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, psc, fdc, MNIM, commiserates with the families and friends of the victims of the unfortunate attack and strongly condemns the incident. He has further directed the deployment of additional resources towards the swift investigation and arrest of the perpetrators of this dastardly act.

“Further developments will be communicated in due course,” the statement said.
